Wallace Isaiah West, Jr.

Wallace Isaiah West, Jr., 77, of Hollywood, South Carolina, husband of Valerie Taft West, entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 8, 2025. His memorial service will be held Monday, September 1, 2025, at The Citadel Summerall Chapel, at 11:00 am. Following the service, a reception will take place at The Pearson Club Level, located on the fourth floor of the Johnson Hagood Stadium. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.

Wallace was born December 16, 1947 in Wilmington, North Carolina, son of the late Wallace Isaiah West, Sr. and Virginia Mae Lee. Wallace was a 1970 graduate of The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, where he also spent his career as the director of admissions and working in the alumni office.

He loved life and the outdoors, embracing every season with passion-whether hunting, fishing, diving, archery, or golf. With Valerie and dear friends, he played courses around the world, always bringing laughter and good company.

Known for his warmth, quick wit, and easy charm, he was a loving husband, proud father, cherished grandfather, and loyal friend. He fought a courageous battle against Parkinson’s disease with the same dignity and grace that defined his life. To know him was to like him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Wallace is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Lee West Campbell (Hugh) and Melany West Warfuel (Drew); sons, John Routt Reigart and Richardson Taft Reigart (Bernice); grandchildren, Andrew and Julia Warfuel, Michael, Huey, and Liam Campbell, and Lilliana Reigart; and brother, Donald Lee West.

Memorial donations can be made in Wallace's memory to MUSC Movement Disorders Program or the Parkinson's Foundation.

Guests will be able to park in faculty/staff lots (first come, first serve basis) and visitor spots. Kovats Field will probably be the best option. Guests are advised to carpool/ride share since parking is limited. Please leave enough time for parking. Visitor parking instructions for The Citadel can be found at https://www.citadel.edu/publicsafety/parking-map/
