W. Robert Eels

W. Robert Eels, Jr., 82, of Charleston, South Carolina, beloved husband for over 60 years of Ann Carmichel Eels, died Sunday, June 7, 2015. His funeral service will be held Sunday, June 14, 2015 in the Chapel at Bishop Gadsden, One Bishop Gadsden Way at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel. The Family will receive friends at a reception following the funeral service.

Bob was born June 27, 1932 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, son of the late William Robert Eels, Sr. and the late Alma Blizzard Eels. He was raised on Long Island, New York, and was a graduate of Lynbrook High School. He earned his BS degree at the University of Virginia while participating in the ROTC program. He was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. Upon graduation, Bob was commissioned in the United States Navy. He was a retired Naval Aviator and combat veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Navy Air Medal for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight.

He is survived by wife, Ann Eels of Charleston, SC; son, Donald and wife Sheila Eels of Saint Mary's, GA; daughter Sharon; sister, Helen and husband Edwin Sorensen; grandchildren: Michelle and husband Charles Clendenen, Michael and wife Kelly Eels, Matthew Eels, Scott and wife Brittany Eels; great-grandchildren: Jakob Braun, Kendal Eels, Tyler Clendenen, Isabella Eels, Noah Eels, Marshall Clendenen, and Elise Eels; nieces and nephew: Leah and husband Edward McNellis, Kirsten and husband Edward Romanzo, Jeanine and husband Joseph Witowski, Aaron and wife Jennifer Sorensen, Deborah Eid, Darlene Grant, and Dawn Renfrew.
