Vivian Miller

Vivian Lewis Miller, 93, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011.

Vivian was born in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada and spent most of her life in Detroit, MI.  She married John "Walter" Miller in 1942 and they spent 65 years together until his death in 2007.   Together they raised eight children.  Vivian was a constant source of strength and guidance for her family.  She and Walter moved in with their daughter Linda in Goose Creek in 2000. 

Vivian is survived by six daughters and one son:  Mary Miller of Apple Valley, CA, Patricia Jones, John Miller III and Cheryl Rankin of Detroit, MI, Elaine Kottenmeier of Kaneohe, HI and Linda Boone and Jan Miller of Goose Creek, SC.  She is also survived by her brother, William Lewis of Westland, MI; grandchildren:  Gail Jones, William Jones, Erika Kottenmeier, Emilie Kottenmeier, John Miller IV, Evan Miller, Valor Miller, Asher Miller and Miller Boone; great-grandchildren:  Aireyana Jones, and Addison Jones and Alyssa Jones.

Vivian's life will be celebrated by friends and family at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Thursday, January 27^th at 10:00 a.m.  The church is located at 1150 Montague Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405-4719, (843) 747-0479.  Following the service her urn will be interred in the church's rose garden next to her husband's.  A memorial service will also be held Thursday in Detroit, MI at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vivian's memory to St. Thomas Church.

The family expresses its sincere gratitude to the staff of MUSC 6^th and 10^th floors for their kind and efficient attention to Vivian.  Thanks also to the staff of Heartland Rehabilitation and Hospice for making her final days comfortable and pleasant.
