Vivian McDowell Grooms

Vivian McDowell Grooms, 75, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of the late Richard Walter Grooms, Sr. passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Christ Our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive. Prayers of Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, with a brief Wake Service at 6:00 pm.

Vivian was born November 27, 1939 in Loris, South Carolina, daughter of the late Oscar McDowell and the late Reba Todd McDowell. She was an Export Documentation Specialist with the John S. James Co. Vivian was a parishioner at Christ Our King Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and shopping. And, she loved to bowl.

She is survived by her sons, Rick Grooms and his wife, Debbie, of Columbia, SC, and Kevin Grooms and his wife, Rochelle, of Lakeland, FL; her grandchildren, Tripp Grooms, Tiffany Grooms, and Courtney Grooms, all of Columbia, SC, and Wilson Grooms and Anna Grooms, both of Lakeland, FL; her sister, Elnita Parrott of Woodstock, GA; her special "sisters," Eleanor Reynolds and Peggy McDowell; and her many great nieces and nephews.
