Virginia Ann Simmons Cook Smith, 83, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of J. D. Cook and Dale M. Smith, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, October 9, 2013. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 14, 2013 in Pinecrest Baptist Church, 1285 Ashley Hall Road at 11:00 am. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Virginia was born May 20, 1930 in Magnolia, Mississippi, daughter of Herbert Lee Simmons and Rettie Mae Johnson Simmons. She was a member of Pinecrest Baptist Church for the past 45 years. She was a homemaker and owned Cozy Corner Ceramics for 20 years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda S. Kennard (Eddie) of Savannah, GA, Stephanie Hauschild (Yogi) of Awendaw, SC; two sisters, Janie Darsow of Hastings, MN, Willene Trotter of Kemp, TX, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James Cook, Jr. and Henry Dale Smith.
