Virginia Gerken Scott

Virginia Gerken Scott, age 84, widow of Leonard W. Scott, Jr., passed away March 24, 2013 at the Hospice House in Greenwood, South Carolina. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services Thursday, March 28, 2013 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Bethany Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanne and Bill Oglesby of Folly Beach, South Carolina, and Nancy and David Bell of Donalds, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Donald Bell of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, Dr. Billy Oglesby of Kent, Ohio, Kimberly Parker of Folly Beach, South Carolina, Jay Brogdon of Goose Creek, South Carolina, and Lauren Russell of Donalds, South Carolina; and six great-grandchildren, Austin Bell, Trent and Scott Russell, Jackson Brogdon, and Lukas and Logan Parker.

Mrs. Scott was a devoted volunteer of many humanitarian causes through work with St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Charleston, South Carolina and Greenville Presbyterian Church in Donalds, South Carolina. She also worked many years for the Cooper River Parks and Playgrounds in North Charleston, South Carolina.
