Virginia "Ginny" Thayer Murphy , 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Alvis Craig Murphy entered into eternal rest Tuesday, February 28, 2017. Her Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 in First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL.

Virginia was born May 7, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio, daughter of the late Robert G. Thayer and Lulu Wyatt Thayer. She was a retired public and private school teacher. Ginny was an active member of First (Scots) Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, A. Craig Murphy; two sons, Douglas Craig Murphy (Lisa) of Charleston, SC, Bradley Thayer Murphy (Sheila) of Vienna, VA; four grandchildren, Allison, Matt, Constance and Chloe.
