Virginia Braid Mappus, 96, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Edward Russell Mappus, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 27, 2024. Her funeral service will be held graveside Thursday, April 4, 2024, in Bethany Cemetery, 10 Cunnington Avenue at 2:00 p.m.  Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Virginia was born September 3, 1927, in Summerville, South Carolina, daughter of the late Augustus H. Braid and Caroline Cordes Braid. She was a graduate of Memminger High School and attended Rice Business College. Ginny was active in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, an excellent hostess, loved watersports, and was dearly loved by her family. She was also a member of the Arion Society Auxiliary. 

Virginia is survived by her three daughters: Janet M. Stribling (Robert) of Greer, SC, Dr. Marthe M. Munden (Reginald) of Charleston, SC and Dianne M. N. Blixt (Charles) of Lewisville, NC; brother, John D. Braid of Woodstock, GA; five grandchildren: Eric Stribling, Laura Stribling Dolan, Brandon Munden, Christopher Neal and Dylan Neal; and four great-grandchildren: Daisy James Munden, Elliott Miles Munden, Tatum Charlotte Dolan; and Sienna Inara Stribling; and the fifth great-grandchild to be born in July of 2024, Jack Dolan. She was predeceased by her grandson, James "Jamie" Munden.
