Virginia Lee Ford

Virginia "Ginny" Lee Hatcher Ford, 81, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of James Ernest Ford entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 20, 2022. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, January 30, 2022 in Bethel United Methodist Church, 57 Pitt Street at 3:00 p.m., followed by a reception. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.

Burial services will be held at Laurel Hill cemetery, Thomasville, GA on February 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will take place at Allen & Allen Funeral Home 110 W. Hansel St. Thomasville, GA on February 1, 2022, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Ginny was born June 21, 1940 in Amarillo, Texas, daughter of the late Russell Shields Hatcher and Elsie Abel Hatcher. Ginny's greatest joy was her family and home. She and Ernie raised their family in Thomasville, GA where the house was always open to friends with a pot of coffee and pound cake on hand. The yard was always filled with children playing with a couple of collies keeping watch. Ginny was an avid reader, conversationalist, talented pianist and lover of plants and gardening. Most importantly, Ginny was a wonderful mother.

In Charleston, she was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. In Thomasville, GA Ginny was an active member of Dawson Street United Methodist Church where she served as a choir member, United Methodist Women president, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and Sunday night service pianist. She was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader, PTA member and a band booster.

Ginny is survived by her daughters, Shari (Brad) Ford Weeks of Charleston, SC and Shelly Ann Ford of York, PA; nephew, Russell Hatcher; nieces Teresa Hatcher LaGor and Tracey Hatcher Hambly; sister-in-law, Betty Rickert; brothers-in-law, Joe Ford and Lee Ford; plus, many other family members as well as her faithful cat, Lady Bug.
