Virginia Walker Alford, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, widow of Clyde Albert Alford died Friday, February 10, 2017. Her Funeral Service will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 in the McClellanville United Methodist Church, 200 Pinckney Street, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, McClellanville Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road.
Virginia was born June 6, 1928 in McClellanville, South Carolina, daughter of the late Benjamin Henry Walker, Jr. and the late Gertrude Cumbee Walker. She graduated as valedictorian from McClellanville High School and attended the Baptist College of Charleston. Virginia retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. She was a member of McClellanville Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Alberta Virginia Alford Druce (William) and Jane Skrine Alford Szorc (Joe), both of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Robert Walker Alford Druce, Christopher William Druce, Katherine Druce Beveridge, Victoria Druce Wilson, and Maxim Joseph Szorc; her sister, Jenny Walker Weeks of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews.
