Virginia Louise Tilman Aebersold

July 21, 1917 — January 26, 2012

Virginia Louise Tilman Aebersold, 94, wife of the late Robert Charles Aebersold of Daniel Island, SC passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 with the words, "I love you, yes I do" and a smile on her lips. Her loving family surrounded her.

The relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service for Virginia Louise Aebersold at the cryptside in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. She will be entombed along with her husband, whom she dearly loved. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 1:00 pm until time of the service.

Born Virginia Louise Tilman on July 21, 1917 in Kingsport, Tennessee and raised in Saltville,VA, she was the daughter of the late Henry O. Tilman and Myrtle Sanders Tilman. She lived in Saltville until her husband's job transfers would take her to homes in Westport, Connecticut as well as Youngstown, New York and Cleveland, TN. Virginia graduated from Longwood Teachers College, Farmville, VA, in 1937, where she received a BA in education. The next fall found her employed as a second grade teacher at Saltville Elementary School.

In 1942, she married Robert Charles Aebersold who would later become the manager of the Olin Chemical Corporation plants in Saltville, VA, as well as in Charleston, TN and Niagara Falls, NY. The couple had three children, Frances "Fran" Jean Aebersold of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Robert C. Aebersold of Acworth, GA and Dr. Anita L. Aebersold of Little Rock, AR; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

The Aebersolds were active members of Northside Presbyterian Church in Cleveland, TN. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Aebersold moved from her Cleveland home of more than thirty years to the Mt. Pleasant, SC area.

Mrs. Aebersold was preceded in death by her parents Henry O. and Myrtle Sanders Tilman, her husband Robert C. Aebersold and by her sister, Frances T. Kearney of Hampton, VA.

Virginia "NiNi" Aebersold will be remembered by all who loved her for her zest for life, as well as for her love of dancing.
