Virgil M. Hodges, Sr.

Virgil M. Hodges, Sr, 88, of Summerville, South Carolina, widow of Edith Harriott Hodges entered into eternal rest Wednesday, July 6, 2022. His funeral service will be held Monday, July 11, 2022,  in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 11 a.m. Interment will be a Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Virgil was born April 6, 1934 in Colleton County, South Carolina, son of the late H.K. Hodges and Elva Crosby Hodges.  He was a retired painter and a veteran of the United States Army. He also served as a Deacon at the former Sycamore Baptist Church.

Virgil was a simple man who truly loved his family. He was also a giving man who loved to eat and laugh. 

He is survived by his sons, Virgil M. Hodges, Jr. his wife Theresa of  North Charleston, SC, Luke Hodges of Summerville, daughter, Betty Leppert of Charleston, SC., six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, William "Allen" Hodges, his son-in-law, Timmy Leppert and seven siblings.
