Victor B. Wright

June 5, 1922 — October 6, 2011

Victor Berton Wright, 89, of North Charleston, SC, died Thursday, October 6, 2011, peacefully at home.


Born June 5, 1922 in Neon, KY he was one of ten children of Benjamin Franklin Wright and Ida Wallen Wright.  He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and a member of First Baptist Church of North Charleston where he taught Sunday School.  Mr. Wright was retired from the Electronics Shop #67 at the Charleston Naval Shipyard.  He was a volunteer with AT&T Pioneers with the local Twin Oaks Nursing Home. Victor was an active leader with Boy Scouts of North Amercia both in Kentucky and South Carolina.


The two loves of his life were his Lord and his family.


He is survived by two sons, Paul Wright and his wife Jane and Kenneth Wright and his wife Allison all of Goose Creek, SC; sister, Edith Burke of Ellenton, FL; five grandchildren:  Amy Wright, Aaron Wright, Leah Wright Burkett, Carson Wright and Daniel Wright; great-grandson, Miles Robert Burkett.  Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Louise Newsome Wright; a son, Victor Berton Wright, Jr.; three brothers:  Joseph Astor Wright, James Estill Wright and Benjamin Franklin Wright, Jr.; five sisters:  Marie Greer, Chessie Cornette, Opal Dingus, Mabel Wheeler and Ruth Wright.


The funeral service will be held in First Baptist Church of North Charleston, Monday, October 10, 2011 at 11:00 AM.  Interment with military honors will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road Sunday, October 9, 2011 between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
