Vicki Lu (Hyre) Stier

Vicki Lu (Hyre) Stier, 75, of North Charleston, South Carolina, wife of Dale Stier, entered into eternal rest Monday, October 5, 2026.

Vicki was born December 28, 1950, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, daughter of the late Victor L. Hyre and Mary Lake Hyre. She spent much of her life in Seattle, Washington, where she built a distinguished career in property management, retiring as Vice President of Property Management with Port Blakely Communities. She served as President of the Western Washington Chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) in 2000, and in 2002 was named the chapter’s Certified Property Manager of the Year.

Vicki gave just as generously outside of work. In her early years she volunteered at retirement homes, and she later became a passionate advocate and fundraiser for shelters serving women affected by domestic violence. She also coached Little League baseball in Seattle, including an All-Star team that traveled to Kobe, Japan.

Vicki was a pint-sized powerhouse: stoic, stubborn, proud, and a feminist to her core, she never once asked permission to be exactly who she was. She was a proud Marine Mom. She loved her family and friends fiercely, soaked up every minute she could in Mexico, and was always up for a round of golf with Dale. Together they shared a special love of Shiba Inus, raising five generations, and she spoiled every one of them shamelessly.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Neil Bresnahan, and his wife, Zsuzsi; and her grandchildren, Tristen and Skyler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, David Hyre and Luther “Butch” Hyre, and her sister, Jenny Hyre.

A celebration of life will be held in Mexico in 2027, with details to be shared at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Charleston Animal Society (charlestonanimalsociety.org).

Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel.
