Veronique Wildhagen Pickett

Veronique W. Pickett, resident of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 18, 2108, surrounded by her loving family in Virginia Beach, VA.
Born July 1, 1932, and raised in Ansonborough of Charleston, SC, Veronique, affectionately known as Nique, moved to the Old Village of Mount Pleasant after the death of her grandfather, Dr. A.C. Wildhagen. She graduated from Moultrie High School in 1950 and attended the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Medicine. She later met the love of her life, Ret. Col. Bayard S. Pickett and married in July of 1953. Together they raised a beautiful family and celebrated 56 wonderful years of marriage. Her husband, Bayard, and their family together were what mattered most to her. She was a supportive and brave Marine Corps wife, traveling the world in devotion to her husband's successful military career, a dedicated mother and grandmother and member of Church of the Holy Cross in Sullivan's Island, SC. She gracefully passed along the importance of education, religion, etiquette, a fantastic sense of style and many cherished family traditions. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ret. Col. Bayard S. Pickett, her daughter Veronique W. Anderson, and her son, Charles Pickett.
She leaves behind her son, Bayard Scott Pickett, Jr. and his wife Pamela R. Pickett, her grandsons Bayard S. Pickett III, Samuel M. Pickett, Seth C. Pickett and Jonathan Zerbonia, her granddaughters Laura V. Jones, Kathleen E. Anderson and Raquel Gleason and her great grandchildren Madelyne V. Jones, Savannah I. Jones, Liliana C. Jones, Ainsley Pickett, Bailey A. Gleason, Ryder G. Gleason and Bayard S. Pickett.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 in Historic Church of Christ Church Mt. Pleasant, 2304 Highway 17 North at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Christ Church Cemetery. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.
