Vernon Keller Staubes, loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend entered into eternal rest at age 74.
Born on February 6,1948, Vernon grew up in the Harleston Village area of Charleston, SC and attended Bethel UMC. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was the recipient of the Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device. Vernon was a lifelong real estate investor. He adored his family and created many treasured memories with all those that loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Christopher Blohme Staubes; mother, Edna Cogswell Staubes; and brother, Christopher Blohme Staubes, Jr.
Vernon is survived by his son, Vernon Keller Staubes, Jr. (Jennifer); daughter, Katie Staubes Baturin (Ricky); two grandchildren, Emmalyn Morgan Staubes and Vernon Keller Staubes, III; two sisters, Chesnee Staubes Knotts (Heyward) and Edna Staubes Roberds (Al); and extended family.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Downtown Chapel at 232 Calhoun St. Charleston, SC 29401 at 11 am. Interment follows at Magnolia Cemetery, 70 Cunnington Ave, Charleston, SC 29405. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 7, from 5 pm to 7 pm at J. Henry Stuhr Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Because of Vernon's love of the Coastal Carolina Fair, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Exchange Club of Charleston Foundation at 9850 Highway 78, Ladson, SC 29456.
