Vernelle "Nell" Fairey Toole, 99, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 8, 2024 at The Palmettos Assisted Living. A memorial service will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. West Ashley Chapel at 12:00 pm. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Burial will be private.

Nell was born November 11, 1924 in Springfield, South Carolina, daughter of the late Kistler Fairey and Annie Lucille White Fairey. She was a graduate of Murray Vocational High School and a retired Supervisory Contract Specialist at the Charleston Naval Supply Center. She was a faithful and long standing member of Doorway Baptist Church.

She is survived by one sister, Miriam Fisk (David) of Buford, GA; children, Yvonne Downie (Larry) of Charleston, SC and Duane Toole (Kathy) of Midlothian, VA; and three grandchildren, Lori McPhee (Chris) of Irmo, SC, Trevor Toole of Richmond, VA, and Slats Toole (Mads) of Minneapolis, MN.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Toole; and five siblings, James Fairey of Cottageville, SC, Dorothy Fairey of Charleston, SC, Ruth Morris of North Charleston, SC, Sara Diggs of Council, Idaho, and Keith Fairey of Charleston, SC.
