Entered into eternal rest on the morning of April 28, 2011, Verdie Belle Canady Whitson, widow of Fred Bowen Whitson. Residence, Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Sunday, May 1, 2011,  2:30 pm at the graveside in Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Saturday between 5:00 and 7:00 pm.

Mrs. Whitson was born September 1, 1920 in Graham, Tennessee, the daughter of George Washington Canady and Tavey Estell Bates Canady.  She retired from Civil Service as an Inventory Manager Specialist. She was a member of Essex Village Church of Christ.

She is survived by a daughter Freda Andrea Hanlon of James Island, SC; and five grandchildren: Johnny Hanlon of Charleston, Chris Hanlon of Charleston, James Eric Hanlon of Ridgeland, SC, Carrie Hanlon of Indiana and Joseph Hanlon of Charleston, SC; and three great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
