Vera Koger Kneece

Vera Koger Kneece, 95, passed into God's loving embrace on December 17, 2010, from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in the presence of family.  She was born in Walterboro, SC, raised on Edisto Island, SC, married and lived in Atlanta and Augusta, GA, Charleston, SC, and then moved to Tallahassee, FL, where she spent the last few years of her life with her son and his wife.

She was a dedicated Southern Baptist and attended several churches over the years: Curtis Baptist Church, Augusta, GA; Fort Johnson Baptist Church, James Island; Ashley River Baptist Church and Southside Baptist Church of Charleston.

She was retired from a variety of office and retail sales jobs held in Charleston, SC, Atlanta and Augusta, GA.

Besides her son, William C. Kneece, Jr. (wife, Mary), she is survived by two sisters, Janie Koger Thomas of James Island, SC and Mildred Koger Cross of Georgetown, SC, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Kneece, Sr., parents James Koger and Lillie Koger, sisters Mamie Koger Hagen and Lillian Koger Lavoie, and brothers Edgar Koger, Laurie Koger, Perry Koger, and James Koger.  All were residents of the Charleston area except for James Koger of Coral Gables, FL.

A gathering of relatives and friends will be held at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, Saturday, January 15, 2011, between 11:00 am-1:00 pm, followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at 1:00 pm.  Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
