Vera Jane Carroll Keenum, 76, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Turner Keenum died Tuesday, August 21, 2012. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, August 24, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road at 1:00 pm. The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR NORTH AREA CHAPEL, Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Vera was born February 4, 1936 in Conway, South Carolina, one of fourteen children of the late Daniel Ernest Carroll and Lizzie Jane Elvis Carroll. She was owner/operator of Shorty's Snack Bar on Reynolds Avenue in North Charleston.

She is survived by her companion and special friend, Bobby Waldroup of Charleston, SC, daughter, Jeanette Perritt of Conway, SC, son, Ernest "Tiger" P. Keenum and his daughter Olivia St. Claire Keenum of Charleston, SC, brother, Daniel E. Carroll Jr. of Conway, SC, sister, Frankie Ammons of Summerville, SC, sister, Geneva Wright of Florence, SC, sister, Madelyn Rowe of Conway, SC, four stepchildren, Richard M. Keenum of Edisto Beach, SC, Mary E. Murphy of Summerville, SC, Sharon Lockey of Charleston, SC, Charles M. Keenum of North Carolina, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
