Vasco Gomes Camacho, 91, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Jean Camacho entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 27, 2021. His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1695 Raoul Wallenberg Blvd. at 10:30 a.m. with Rite of Committal following in Live Oak Memorial. Vasco was born November 9, 1929 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, son of the late Jose Gomes Camacho and Augusta Fernandes Camacho. He was a veteran of the Army. He held a master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Clemson University and was a retired chemist with Mobil Chemical Company. Vasco was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jean Hanks Camacho of Charleston, two daughters, Karen Peebles (Sam) of League City, TX; Jennifer Eitel (Rick) of Moore, SC; son, Stephen Camacho (Amelia) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren, Matthew Peebles, Jamie Peebles, Christian Eitel, Anna Beth Eitel, and Jack Eitel.
