Valdis "Wally" Briedis, 86, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 24, 2022. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022, in Grace Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street at 10:00 a.m. A burial service will be held at a later date in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel.
Wally was born May 12, 1935 in Riga, Latvia, son of the late Roberts Briedis and Lidija Freimanis Briedis. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Wally retired from General Motors, Pontiac Motor Division as a Field Service Manager. He was always willing to help anyone and could fix anything. Everything Wally did, was done to perfection. Before moving to SC, he enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay with family and friends. After moving to SC, Wally enjoyed traveling, tending his Bonsai garden and going to the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. He was an avid photographer and one of his greatest joys was taking pictures each week for the Grace Church Cathedral flower guild.
Wally is survived by his son, Bob Briedis (Ann); and grandson, Matthew of Chesterfield, MI. He is also survived by his long-time companion, Hatsy Bayse of Mount Pleasant, SC; and her children Harriette, William (Maria), John (Christina); and six grandchildren. Wally was predeceased by his grandson, Cody Briedis.
