"Tony" Cokiel Anthony Porter

"Tony" Cokiel Anthony Porter, 75, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, October 28, 2016. His Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial service will be held later in Smyrna United Methodist Churchyard, Moncks Corner, SC.

Tony was born November 23, 1940 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late James Cokiel Porter and Doris Rhoad Porter. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, graduate of Baptist College, and former President of The Rotary Club of St. Andrews. He was associated with his families business, J C Porter and Company and later in his career became the principal until his retirement.

Tony was a kind and gentle man with many interests. He was particularly proud of his grandsons participation in sports and music.

He is survived by his daughter, Rhenda Bishop of Charleston, SC; brother, James Pete Porter (Patsy) of Moncks Corner, SC; grandson, McLeod Bishop of Charleston, SC; two nieces, Tracey Moser (Stuart), Laurie P. Lewis; grand nieces and nephews; and former spouse, Marcia C. Porter of Charleston, SC. Tony is predeceased by a son, Scott Porter.

Memorials may be made to a Charity of one's choice.
