Todd Harris Sumner

Todd Harris Sumner, 57, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Toni Farah Sumner, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He is also survived by his mother, Sandra “Shamie” Sumner, son Charles Harris Sumner, daughter-in-law Tatum Leigh Sumner, sister Mandy Sumner, and his nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Harbor View Presbyterian Church, 900 Harbor View Road at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday in the J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Todd was born March 9, 1966, in Atlanta, Georgia, son of Sandra Harris Sumner and the late James Charles Sumner. He was a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, and friend to many. He was a graduate of James Island High School and Charleston Southern University. A local entrepreneur, he founded Lowcountry Enterprises and Todd Sumner Construction directly out of college, and consistently grew the businesses over three decades. 

Todd was a member of Harbor View Presbyterian Church and the James Island Yacht Club. He was an avid boater, and enjoyed boat festivals, hosting oyster roasts, deep-sea fishing, and greatly enjoyed the challenges of any type of mechanical repair. He was known for his spontaneous generosity and was always available to help others with any need. Todd was known for his business savvy and the casual dispensing of wisdom that enriched and benefited so many friends and family members. His favorite spot was in front of his fireplace at home with family.
