The family will receive friends Saturday, August 25, 2018 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A service of celebration will be held Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Hwy., at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.
Fee was born July 19, 1938 in Eastover, South Carolina, daughter of the late Frederick Eugene Heape and Tiny Cobb Heape. She graduated from Lower Richland High School and MUSC nursing school. She served as a nurse for many years, as well as being a successful real estate agent. She was an active member of Northbridge Garden Club, Ashley River Baptist Church, and the Ruth Sunday School Class, where she also served as a teacher. Often heard before she was seen, she was a spirited conversationalist and served others with a fierce compassion. Beyond her active role in the community, her greatest joy came from her family.
For 58 wonderful years, she was a beloved and devoted wife and mother. Together, she and her husband raised their two beautiful daughters, traveled together, and enjoyed gardening. A loving mother, she often sewed clothes for her girls and strongly supported their many interests and activities as a cheerleader and volunteer. Her grandchildren brought a new level of joy to her life, and her proudest title was Grammy. She was always there - from making pancakes at midnight, serving as a flower girl, sharing fashion advice, giving spiritual guidance and wisdom, being readily available to listen and comfort, to being a devoted supporter of their many passions.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, William Johnson Funderburk of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Jeannine Funderburk Motsinger (Scott) of Chapin, SC, Tracy Funderburk Gregory (David) of Cary, NC; sister, Faye Heape of Sumter, SC; two brothers, Toye Heape of Chattanooga, TN, Jack Heape of Batesburg-Leesville, SC; cherished family friend, Paula Epperson; five grandchildren, Amanda Gregory, Katy Motsinger, Marguerite M. Murray (Ian), Reid Motsinger, and Nicole Motsinger. She was preceded in death by her sister Jean Gialenios and a brother F.C. Heape.
Memorials may be made to Eason Memorial Baptist Church, P.O. 564, Eastover, South Carolina 29044.
