Mt. Pleasant

Timothy "Lefty" Arthur Hartsell

Survived by his wife Dawn Sader Hartsell (17 years), daughter Kaela Hartsell (Julia), son Samuel Hartsell, father Alex Hartsell (Dianne), brother Alex Hartsell (Beth), sister Renee Manhoff (Scott), in laws Don and Lauren Sader, sister in law Jenni Ribota (Brian), nephews Wilbur Hartsell and Zach Phillips, nieces Alexis Phillips, Hannah Phillips (Lexi), and Jillian Ribota.

Preceded in death by his mother Martha Bridges Carpenter and daughter Chelsea Tumbleston.

In his eight-year career, he was a dedicated police officer who protected the Town of Mount Pleasant, Spartanburg County, North Charleston City, and Charleston City. His law enforcement career was cut short by an on-duty motorcycle collision; however, he didn’t let that deter him from riding motorcycles in his retirement. He remained supportive of all first responders and military and completed many poker rides and fundraiser rides.

Tim loved the Washington Redskins football team, the Carolina Gamecocks football, riding his motorcycle, watching his son Sam dance for Peace Love Hip Hop and play football for Wando and now Oceanside High School. Tim was the owner and operator of “Lefty’s Smoker Shed” at his home where he was happiest cooking for and entertaining his friends. He made numerous motorcycle trips with his buddies and had plans to make a cross country trip this summer on Route 66, crossing off numerous locations on his bucket list. He never missed a bike week, and made it to the Sturgis Bike Rally.

He had a wicked sense of humor and was quick to post a witty comment on social media. You always knew where you stood with him, and he never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, about any topic, and every time he traveled he came home with a new best friend. Like his family, his friends meant the world to him and although there are far too many to name here, you all know who you are. He was a devoted husband, loving and involved father, and best friend to all he loved. His heart was bigger than the world.
