Thompson Parker Barnwell, 29, died in Charleston, SC on Monday, March 21, 2011. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Second Presbyterian Church, 342 Meeting Street, on Saturday, April 2, at 2:00 pm. Following the service the family will receive friends at 17 John Street. All arrangements are being made to J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Downtown Chapel. Committal will be private.
Thompson was born January 1, 1982, in Charleston, SC the son of Nathaniel Elliott Barnwell and Nancy Thompson Barnwell. He was a graduate of Bishop England High School and Thompson was a serious, sensitive and personable young man. His sensitive nature was revealed in many ways, notably in his painting. The sport of his choice was soccer, and he played ardently throughout his high school and college years. He was a meticulous workman both in Greensboro and in Charleston.
He is survived by his parents: Nathaniel Elliott Barnwell and Nancy Thompson Barnwell of Charleston; a brother John Russell Barnwell his wife Sarah of Washington, D.C.; a grandmother, Mrs. Nathaniel L. Barnwell, a grandfather, Russell E. Thompson, and three treasured uncles; Donald W. Thompson, John P. Barnwell and Frank L.P. Barnwell, all of Charleston, SC.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Nathaniel Longstreet Barnwell, his maternal grandmother, Laurie West Thompson, and his uncle Middleton Stuart Barnwell.
In place of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
