Thomas Allen Windsor, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, in Charleston, South Carolina, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on January 2, 1947, in Takoma Park, Maryland, Tom was the son of Raymond Chester Windsor Sr. and Elsie Phillips Windsor. He grew up in Montgomery County alongside his brothers, Raymond Chester Windsor Jr. and Robert Edward “Bob” Windsor.

A gifted athlete from an early age, Tom attended Montgomery Blair High School, where he became one of the school’s most accomplished multi-sport athletes. As the starting fullback, he helped lead Blair to an undefeated 10-0 football season in 1965, earning First Team All-Met honors and Parade All-American recognition. His outstanding accomplishments in football, basketball, and baseball earned him induction into the Montgomery Blair High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Following high school, Tom continued his football career at Montgomery College before playing at the University of Kentucky. His love for the game eventually led him to professional football with the Roanoke Buckskins.

While athletics brought him recognition, those who knew Tom best remember him for far more than his accomplishments on the field. He possessed a competitive spirit, a strong work ethic, and an unmistakable sense of determination that carried through every stage of his life.

Tom was a devoted father and took great pride in watching his family grow. He is survived by his son, Jason Windsor; his daughter-in-law, Shauna Windsor; and his beloved grandchildren, Brody Windsor and Ashlyn Windsor. Nothing brought him greater joy than seeing his grandchildren pursue their passions and grow into remarkable young people.

Tom will be remembered for his strength, resilience, athletic achievements, and the lasting impact he had on those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on through his family, his friends, his teammates, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date in Maryland, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and celebrate a life well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those wishing to honor Tom’s memory to spend time with the people they love, cheer on a young athlete, or perform an act of kindness in his name.

Though he is gone, his spirit, determination, and love for family will never be forgotten.
