Thomas Holmes Strickland, 92, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Lois Rhodes Strickland, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, May 21, 2014. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 24, 2014, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, at 1:00 pm. Interment following will be in Black Creek Cemetery, 2594 County Line Road, Cross, SC. The family will receive friends Saturday in Stuhr's West Ashley Chapel. from 11:00 am until time of service.
Thomas was born November 29, 1921 in Cross, South Carolina, son of the late Henry Holmes Strickland and Ivy Parker Strickland. He was a retired painter with the Charleston Air Force Base. Thomas was a member of Woodman of the World and served as a medic in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Huthmacher (Henry) of Goose Creek, Lauralee Branton (Billy Engram Barrineau) of Charleston and Tammy Bickerstaff of Charleston; five grandchildren, Amber Branton, Rick Bickerstaff, Nichole Bickerstaff, Kyle Huthmacher and Ashley Huthmacher; two great-grandchildren, Ava Lee Jacobus and Eleanor Lynn Bickerstaff; and a sister, Camilla Carter of Atlanta, GA.
