Entered into eternal rest on the morning of January 22, 2011, Thomas Meldrim Simmons, widower of Loretta Kuck Simmons. Residence, Hanahan, SC. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral services in J. HENRY STUHR, NORTH AREA CHAPEL, 2119 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Interment, Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Stuhr's North Area Chapel Monday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
Thomas was born April 9, 1932 in Savannah, Georgia, son of the late George Palmer Simmons, Sr. and the late Grace Woodcock Simmons. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired electrician for Westvaco. Thomas was a member of Pittman Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was also a former member of Berkeley County Council.
He is survived by a son, Thomas Craig Simmons of Hanahan; two daughters, Sandy Holland and husband, Robert, of Moncks Corner and Debbie Zecopoulos of Hanahan; a sister, Virginia Hinson of North Charleston; and four grandchildren, Christopher Thomas Zecopoulos, Broughan Simmons, Collin Simmons and Hayden Simmons.
