Thomas Francis Savage, 65, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Deborah M. Savage, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at his home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.
Tom was born August 3, 1950 in New York, New York, son of the late Thomas A. Savage and the late Jane A. Savage. He held a B.S. from Northeastern University (1974) and an M.B.A from Babson College (1977). Tom had a successful career leading the operations of companies in the fashion industry including Faded Glory, Oleg Cassini, Ralph Lauren, and Putumayo, as well as a leather goods manufacturer, Trafalgar/Ghurka. Most recently Tom transitioned to a career as a management consultant to companies such as Uninonwear, a manufacturer of U.S. made apparel and Volkl, a global tennis brand. Over the years his career allowed him to travel the world, including a period living and working in Hong Kong.
All who knew Tom were well aware of his intense passion for skiing, which he taught himself to do at a young age and was an activity he continued throughout his life. Skiing was a bond that created many of his life-long friendships and is a passion that he has passed down to his children. Tom combined his love of skiing with his travels, skiing on three different continents; however, Alta and the other ski areas around Park City, Utah were his favorite destinations. In addition, Tom greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family home on Sebago Lake, Maine, including watching sunsets over the lake accompanied with a gin & tonic and the occasional lobster party. He was active in many outdoor sports, including tennis, mountain biking, cycling, water skiing and kayaking, and maintained a life-long love of fast cars and rock & roll. A devoted football fan, Tom made watching the New England Patriots a priority. He was also beloved by his dogs, Bismarck, Cooper, Boomer and Trevor.
A much loved friend, uncle and brother-in-law, Tom is survived by his wife, Deborah Savage of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son, Tom Savage and his wife, Jeri, of Wilton, CT; daughter, Nicole Albrecht and her husband, Ted, of Saint Louis, MO; grandchildren, Abby Savage, Colin Savage, Haley Albrecht and Caroline Albrecht; sister, Debi Weinshank and her husband Arthur, of Roxbury, CT; brother, Donald Savage and his wife, Pam, of Washington, D.C.; and brother-in-law, Bob Murphy of Park City, UT.
