Deacon Thomas McDonald, 89, of North Charleston, SC, husband of the late Elizabeth M. Guerra McDonald died Thursday, September 12, 2013. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in the Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow the service at Whispering Pines Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, September 16, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Divine Redeemer Catholic Church with a vigil service at 7:00 pm. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.

Deacon McDonald was born January 3, 1924 in Westborough, MA, son of the late Allan Patrick McDonald and Mary Margaret Aldrich. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and Korea. He attended MIT and retired from Charleston Naval Shipyard as an Electrical Engineer. He was an ordained permanent Deacon since 1991. Deacon McDonald was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus 6629 Monsignor Madden, Summerville SC.

He is survived by his daughters, Paula M. (Andrew) Clyde of North Charleston SC and Elaine M. (Thomas) White of Goose Creek SC; brother, John Henry McDonald of Chesterfield VA; grandchildren: Kathleen (Joel) Green, Andrew Clyde Jr., Sarah Lippe and her Fiancé Michael, Christopher White, James White, Jennifer White; three great- grandchildren: Eve, Mikey and Renee.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Divine Redeemer Catholic Church, 1106 Fort Drive, Hanahan SC 29410.
