Thomas Gary Martin, Jr.

Thomas Gary Martin, Jr., 77, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 6, 2023. His memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 2:00 pm, and the family will continue to receive friends following the service.

Thomas was born July 13, 1945 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Thomas Gary Martin Sr. and Grace Margaret Ballentine Rowland. Thomas was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Below are a few words from Mr. Tommy’s Blanchard family.

Thomas Gary Martin Jr (Mr. Tommy) started at Blanchard Machinery in Summerville in 2001 and spent the last 22 years serving customers on the parts counter. He will be remembered by customers and coworkers as a hard-working man with a fun sense of humor, a spicy attitude, and a caring heart. Mr. Tommy was willing to help anyone; he was known for being dependable, quick witted, and giving nicknames to those he deemed fit. He loved talking about his pit crew days and bantering back and forth with his counter-mates.  Mr. Tommy will be missed dearly by his Blanchard Machinery family and all the customers he helped and served. We will honor his memory by striving for the same excellence in customer service as he demonstrated every day.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert Dale Rowland (Pat) and William Martin; and sister, Joyce Owens.
