Thomas "Tommy" Pinckney Lowndes III

Thomas Pinckney Lowndes, III, 56, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Lori J. Lowndes, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 26, 2023. His memorial service will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 in St. Andrews Church, 440 Whilden St., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 2, 2023 in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mt. Pleasant Chapel from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and will be announced by the family. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mt. Pleasant Chapel.

Tommy was born August 24, 1966 in Charleston, SC, son of Thomas Pinckney Lowndes, Jr. (Tyler) and the late Dr. Dyana Blitch Lowndes. He was self-employed in property management as an owner of Lowndes Properties. He also was former co-owner of Sun and Ski on Folly Beach and in Costa Rica with cousin Andy Pracht.

Growing up in Charleston and the surrounding areas, he spent endless hours on the water and the beach. Tommy had pluff mud in his veins. He loved Clemson football, College of Charleston basketball games, the Kentucky Derby, golf and history; he was such the historian and former tour guide. He was also a member of the Cincinnati Society. Being the socialite he was and definitely the life of any party, everyone has a story about Tommy and you either knew the story or were a part of it.

In addition to his wife, Lori and father, Thomas, he is survived by his brothers, Richard and Matthew Lowndes; sister, Arden (Jordan); nephews, Charlton Lowndes, Pinckney and Andrew; niece, Margaret; step-daughters, Allison and Emily Taylor; and his Beloved Dog, George RooRoo DooDoohead Lowndes I.

Memorials may be made to Charleston Animal Society or the American Cancer Society.
