Thomas B. Johnson

Thomas B. Johnson, Jr., of Birmingham and formerly of Charleston, South Carolina passed away on June 5, 2010. He was born on March 20, 1944, in Charleston. Mr. Johnson was a graduate of the College of Charleston. He received his Master Degree from the University of South Carolina and his PhD from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Johnson was a professor for several years at UAB School of Medicine. After leaving he started the Academic Bookstore and retired in 1998.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Thomas Johnson, Sr., and his brother Robert Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Maude Nolen Johnson, sister-in-law, M. Christina Nolen; cousins William Hogan (Beverly), Becky LeVasseur and Betsy Hogan; also by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 10, at J. Henry Stuhr West Ashley Chapel in Charleston, S.C., from 4 until 7 p.m., with the Funeral service following on Friday, June 11, at 10:00 a.m., also at J. Henry Stuhr. Burial following at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials in memory of Tommy Johnson be made to the humane society of your choice.
