Thomas William "Pappy" Howell

Thomas William "Pappy" Howell Jr., 89, of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, husband of the late Velma Driggers Howell, died Friday, April 22, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

"Pappy" was born January 26, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Thomas William Howell, Sr. and Anna Estell Howell. He was retired US Navy, and also retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard, Public Works Department. He was a World War II veteran and served two tours in Vietnam.

He is survived by his daughter, Sarah Ann Ward (Otis) of Moncks Corner, SC; three sons, Thomas William Howell III (Sandra), Norman Simon Howell, and Raymond Anthony Howell, all of Goose Creek, SC; five grandchildren, Thomas Howell IV, Tyler Wesley Howell, Alan Stimson, Walker Stimson, and Scott Stimson; one great-granddaughter, Jasmin Sierra Howell; a brother, Don Howell of Brunswick, GA; and two sisters, Sarah Dubose and Marcella Anderson, both of Augusta, GA. He was preceded in death by his sister, Miriam Volpe, and his brother, Ben Howell.
