Thomas Woodward Hornsby, Jr.

Thomas Woodward Hornsby, Jr., 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Patricia Jones Hornsby entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 28, 2019. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 4, 2019 at Charleston Presbyterian Church, 1405 Miles Drive at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel, 232 Calhoun Street.

Thomas was born January 27, 1939 in Columbia, South Carolina, son of Thomas Woodward Hornsby and Mable Cheek Hornsby. He was a graduate of Dreher High School and Palmer Junior College. He served nine years in the United States Marine Corps as a reservist, and 34 years with the SC Department of Revenue, retiring as the Charleston district manager.

Thomas was an active member of Charleston Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mabel Hornsby, and his half-brother, William Hornsby.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Jones Hornsby of James Island, SC; three sons: Gregg (Donna) Hornsby of Lexington, SC, Chad (Andrea) Hornsby of James Island, SC and Glenn (Erica) Hornsby of OR; sister, Josephine Groce of Columbia, SC; five grandchildren: Taylor (Matt) Minnich, Alison, Jack, Tommy, and Matthew (Mia) Hornsby; and great-granddaughter, Lailah Marley.
