Thomas Preston Hanson, Jr.

Thomas Preston Hanson, Jr., 62, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Cynthia Spencer Hanson died peacefully at home with his wife and friends by his side on Thursday, January 2, 2014. The relatives and friends of Thomas Hanson, Jr. are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 in the All Saints Lutheran Church, 2107 Highway 17 N at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2014 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

Tommy was born May 23, 1951 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Thomas P. Hanson, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Hunt Hanson Knight. He was the Owner/President of P.T. Environmental, Inc. for the removal of asbestos, mold and lead. Tommy was an avid musician and most enjoyed playing at coffee houses and nursing homes. He also loved to fish especially in the surf and was a two time SC State Champion BBQ'er. Tommy was also an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Mount Pleasant and participated in many activities with SC Lutheran Via de Cristo. He was a wonderful husband, father and son and will be missed greatly.

He is survived by wife, Cindy Hanson of Mount Pleasant, SC; two sons, Thomas Shokes of Charleston, SC and Hunter Hanson and his wife, Leyna of Mount Pleasant, SC; two step-daughters, Jessica Thompson and Mandy Thompson both of Mount Pleasant, SC; two step-sons, Bill Thompson and Steven Thompson both of Orange County, CA; and nephew, Adam Wright of Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife, Valerie Hanson and a sister, Carol Wright.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to All Saints Lutheran Church or All Saints Lutheran Church for: SC Lutheran Via de Cristo, 2107 N. Highway 17, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466.
