Thomas E. Smith, 85, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, widower of Vivian Riner Smith, entered into eternal rest Saturday, October 8, 2022. His funeral service will be held Friday, October 14, 2022, in the Deer Park Baptist Church, 8875 University Blvd, North Charleston, 29406, beginning at 1:00pm. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30am until the time of service. Interment will follow at Plantation Memorial Gardens, 3345 S. Live Oak Drive, Moncks Corner, SC 29461. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel.
Thomas was born February 22, 1937 in Barnesville, Georgia, son of the late James O. Smith and the late Ora Mae Bishop Smith. He was a Electronics Inspector and retired from the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, SC. He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy, earning the rank of E-5. Thomas was a member of the Deer Park Baptist Church since the 60's. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their various sports activities. He used his woodworking skills to build them furniture. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his children; Thomas E. (Sharon) Smith, Jr., Timothy S. (Debbie) Smith and Tracey (Neil) Funtanilla; four grandchildren, Collin Lane Smith, Chance Tyler Smith, Caitlin Marleigh Funtanilla and Davis Stuart Smith; two great-grandchildren, Carter Phillip Reich-Smith and Vivian Amelia Reich-Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, two brothers and four sisters.
