Tommy moved to Hanahan, SC in 1998 and even before the boxes were unpacked, met a group of young men on the tennis court who he referred to as "the boys" for the remainder of his life. He spend many hours and days and weeks on the tennis court, golf course, and in front of the television watching football, basketball, and any other sport. hey introduced him to deep-fried turkey and pork barbecue.

During college football season, he spent Saturday afternoons on the phone with his good friend Ron, analyzing the games.

He was one of the caregivers to a group of homeless cats that he fed daily, irregardless of the weather.

Tommy wanted to thank the Charleston VA Medical Center for the great medical care he received and their never-ending patience. It mattered so much to him when they thanked him on his service.
