Thomas Edward Crosby, 88, husband of Bernice Mims Crosby went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. His funeral service will be held Sunday, November 9, 2014, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel at 2:30 pm. Interment with military honors to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday in Stuhr's Northwoods Chapel one hour prior to the service.
Tom was born in Savannah, GA on March 12, 1926 son of the late Benjamin Edward and the late Ethel Caldwell Crosby. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. One of the great joys of his life was spending time with his daughter and grandson sharing outdoor activities with them as they grew to adulthood. He was a kind and gentle man. He and his wife loved to travel and made many enjoyable trips throughout the United States and abroad. He was a faithful member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church of North Charleston. Tom retired as a Woodcraftsman Supervisor from the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and was a life member of Charleston Elks Lodge.
Tom is survived by his wife of 67 years; daughter, Patricia C. Inman of North Charleston; grandson, Benjamin B. Inman, Jr. and his wife, Alicia; great-granddaughter, Audrey Marie Inman; great-grandson, Brayden Brooks Inman all of Rapid City, SD. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Millard Crosby; sisters: Marjorie C. Scheloske, Lois C. Brinson and Bernice Williamson and a beloved son-in-law, Benjamin B. Inman.
