Thomas Gregory Callan, Jr., 77, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 21, 2025. Arrangements have been made by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc.’s Mount Pleasant Chapel.
Thomas was born April 16, 1948, in Medford, Massachusetts. After proudly serving two tours with the Army in Vietnam while earning the Bronze Star, he returned home to begin a career in information technology. He later transitioned into business consulting before eventually retiring in retail management. But his true passion was his family, travel, and time spent on the golf course, where he could be found many weekends making par or better. Eminently curious about people, he loved sharing stories of places traveled, foods eaten, and the finer points of finding a good Italian wine. Later in life, he found solace in veterans counseling, something he attributed to a renewed sense of peace and balance.
Mr. Callan was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Gregory Callan, Sr., and Eleanor Burgoyne Callan. He is survived by his two sons: Scott Callan (Catherine) of Falmouth, ME, and Ryan Callan of Broadway, VA; one grandchild, Anders Callan; two brothers: Daniel Callan (Carol) and Kevin Callan (Nancy French); and two sisters: Susan Cushing and Patricia Kivijarv (Hans). He is also survived by many dear friends, including Lynn Jones of Little River, SC, and Dorothy Arthur of Holly Springs, NC.
