Thomas Sutler Buckheister, III, 61, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Serena Cox Walser Buckheister, entered into eternal rest Saturday, May 2, 2026. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026 at the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Thomas was born September 8, 1964 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Thomas Sutler Buckheister, Jr. and Rochelle Bolen Buckheister. Thomas committed his career to public service, serving as an investigator with the Warrants Department for the City of Charleston. His sense of duty extended beyond local law enforcement; in the wake of the tragic events of September 11, he answered the call of his country by becoming a Federal Air Marshal, a role in which he contributed to the safety and security of countless travelers.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Thomas loved coaching and playing baseball, and was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. His enthusiasm for sports also extended to football, cheering on the Carolina Gamecocks.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeremy B. (Jennifer) Cox of Ravenel, SC, Trey A. Cox of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Caleb, Hunter, Jacob, Aaron; Aunt, Kay; and two Uncles, Joe, Roy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Marla Deveau, Jean Roberts
