Captain Thomas Ashworth Brunson, Jr., 57, of James Island, SC, died Thursday, October 18, 2012. The relatives and friends of Tom Brunson are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens, 1308 Mathis Ferry Road. The family will receive friends in the Mount Pleasant Chapel on Monday, October 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Tom was born October 7, 1955 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late Thomas Ashworth Brunson Sr.and Norma Faye Toler Brunson. He attended Moultrie High School and James Island Baptist Church. He was a shrimp boat captain, 100 Ton Master USCG licensed, HAZMAT & HAZWOPER certified, and licensed in SC and NC as a driller of environmental and water wells. Tom also held a commercial driver's license.
He is survived by his mother, Norma Faye Toler Brunson of Mount Pleasant, SC, his sisters, Angela N. Brunson, and Elaine B. Bucholtz and her husband Bob, and his brother, David T. Brunson, all of Mount Pleasant. He is also survived by two uncles and four aunts; his beloved three nieces, four nephews, three great-nieces and two great nephews, and many special friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bonny Brunson Clyde.
