Thomas "Tommy" Randolph Anderson, 61, of Charleston, SC, husband of Florance Robinson Anderson, went home with his Savior Friday, June 24, 2016. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2016, in St. Philip's Church, 142 Church Street, at 11:00 a.m. Interment, churchyard. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street.
Tommy was born October 14, 1954 in Charleston, SC, son of the late R. Maxwell Anderson, M.D. and Dorothy Middleton Anderson. He was a graduate of First Baptist High School and the College of Charleston. Tommy was the president of Tom Anderson Landscaping, LLC and he and his wife co-owned Anderson Photography. He was a very talented horticulturalist. The fruit of his labor is found in the many beautiful historic gardens all over downtown Charleston. He was a member of St. Philip's Church, St. Andrew's Society, Carolina Assembly, and The Harbour Club. Tommy was a devoted follower of Christ. Every morning he loved spending time reading his Bible, praying and sharing what he learned. He enjoyed music, surfing, basketball, football, and spending time reading and playing with his grandsons.
In 1980, he was the ESA Masters East Coast Surfing Champion. He competed in Hawaii and placed ninth in the nation. Tommy was on McKevlin's Surf Team for over 20 years. He will be dearly missed by his family and everyone who knew him well. Tommy's kindness and faith in God is his legacy.
He is survived by his wife and mother of Charleston; two daughters: Felicia A. Evans (Timothy) of Summerville, and Dorothy A. Blalock (Christopher) of Charleston; two brothers, Dr. Robert M. Anderson, Jr. (Olivia) of Brasstown, NC, and Dr. Charles M. Anderson (Sandra) of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Lois A. Ganner (Carl) of Rossman, NC; and two grandsons, Josiah Thomas Evans, and Noah Timothy Evans.
