Thomas Adkins, 82, of North Charleston, SC, husband of Helen Virginia Carter Adkins, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012. The funeral service for Mr. Adkins will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in J. HENRY STUHR, INC. NORTHWOODS CHAPEL, 2180 Greenridge Road, North Charleston. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday April 10, 2012 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. at STUHR'S NORTHWOODS CHAPEL.
Thomas was born December 12, 1929 in Holly Hill, SC, son of the late Pinckney and Bertha Eunice Clark Adkins. He retired from Derst Bakery in 1995.
Surviving is his wife of sixty years, Helen Virginia Carter Adkins of North Charleston, SC; two daughters: Snookie Havens and her husband, David of North Charleston, SC and Karen Pruett of North Charleston, SC; one son, Thomas Adkins, Jr. and his wife, Edna of Round O, SC; one brother, Dennis Adkins of Moncks Corner, SC; two granddaughters: Pamela Morris and her husband, Dale, and Jennifer White and her husband, Cody; five grandsons: Brad Havens, Billy Pruett, Thomas Adkins III and his wife, Kimberly, Brad Adkins and his wife, Lacey and Timmy Adkins and his wife, Julie; ten great-grandchildren: Jestiny and Cooper Morris, J.T. Roberts, Shanna and Denny White, Sadie and Ryan Pruett, Wyatt and William Adkins, Ben and Samantha Adkins.
