Teddy was born on Tuesday January 30, 1940, to Martine and Tony Rowland in the city of Charleston. He spent his formative years with his parents, five siblings, and countless aunts, uncles, and cousins in their mostly Irish Catholic Meeting Street neighborhood in Sacred Heart Parish.
In 1953, the family moved to Mount Pleasant where Teddy graduated from Moultrie High School in 1959. Later that same year, Teddy volunteered for the United States Air Force where he served his country for six years.
In 1970, Mr. Rowland founded Industrial Insulation Co. Inc. where he and two of his brothers made their living for the next two decades. Teddy was a regional leader in the insulation business and a pioneer in the new field of asbestos abatement. In the early 1980s, Teddy taught asbestos abatement courses at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was active in the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and the Association of General Contractors.
Teddy was an accomplished angler, but more importantly he was an Olympic-class fishing storyteller. He loved the Clemson Tigers, flying, woodworking, hunting, and saltwater fishing. As with all of the Rowland clan, Teddy loved laughter.
Teddy is survived by his loving wife, Julie Ann Rowland; two children, Ann Concannon (Jim), and Andy Rowland (Lori);son-in-law, John Rhett Frazier; nine grandchildren, Foster Smith, Mary Jones (Chris), Thomas Concannon (Stacey), Anthony Rowland (Dr. Kristin), Julia Liebenrood (Chuck), Paul Rowland, Rhett Frazier (Hannah), Riley Frazier, and Lockwood Frazier; nine great-grandchildren, Miles, Blakeney, Brodie, James, Brynn, Theo, Sellars, Graham, John; and five siblings, Angela Basha, Larry, Danny, David and Kenny.
