Thelma Elliott White

Thelma Elliott White, 92, wife of the late Joseph Lawrence White, Sr. of Charleston, SC passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011.


The relatives and friends of Thelma Elliott White are invited to attend her Memorial Service on Sunday, October 16, 2011 in J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL at 11:30 a.m.   The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be private.


Mrs. White was born December 11, 1918 in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, daughter of the late Lev Elliott and Mary Garnawitz Elliott. She worked at the VA Hospital in the Dietician's Office.  She was very proud to have been born on Pitt Street in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Mt. Pleasant and a member of the Rebecca Lodge. 


 She is survived by her daughter, Mary White Robison-Grassie (Grady Robison) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and an estranged son; five grandchildren, Richard F. Gassie, III of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Laurie Simmons (Danny) of Anderson, SC, Timothy White, TX, Brenda White of TX and an estranged Grandson; four great grandchildren. Mrs. White is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved and who loved her like a mother.  They were dedicated to sending her cards and well-wishes throughout her life.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susanelliott Grassie.
