Thelma Bland McMurtry

Thelma Bland McMurtry, 97, of North Charleston, South Carolina, widow of George William McMurtry, Sr., entered into eternal rest Friday, January 27, 2017. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 29, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Her Funeral Service will be held Sunday January 29, 2017 at the graveside in Carolina Memorial Park, North Charleston at 3:00 p.m.

Thelma was born September 18, 1919 in Shallotte, North Carolina, daughter of the late Sydney and Roena Bland. She was a retired cosmetologist and member of The Church of the Good Shepherd.

She is survived by her son, George McMurtry (Arlene) of Belmont, NC, daughter, Phyllis Chestnut of Charleston, SC, brother, Bill Bland of Summerville, SC, and sister, Doris Sott of Summerville, SC; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
