Thelma Gaskin Lassiter, 90, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of Robert Leroy Lassiter entered into eternal rest Friday, March 15, 2013. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway at 2:00 pm. Interment, Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway.
Thelma was born November 10, 1922 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, daughter of the late Daniel William Gaskin and Ella Brown Gaskin. She was an Accountant for the S.C. State Ports Authority, cooked at the Ronald McDonald House, delivered meals for Meals on Wheels, and was a charter member of Ashley River Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Hughes (Peter) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two sons, Robert Rife (Catherine) of Hanahan, SC and James Rife of Summerville, SC; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Najah James Rife and a son, David E. Lassiter (Debby).
